Are you up for the next edition of HackWithInfy? Do you have what it takes to win this in 2021? If your answers are yes, all you need is the right amount of motivation, competitive spirit and a guide for the Infosys HackWithInfy Syllabus.

Guide to Infosys Syllabus for HackWithInfy

Infosys is well known globally for its technology services, analysis, and consulting. They focus on digital transformation and innovation in any project they ever take up. Their expertise and recognition are what make their competition a special highlight for every programmer out there.

It’s a whole new world when Infosys conducts a #HackWithInfy challenge to find the coder that can crack ‘em all. The 2021 edition is not far away (check below for the dates) and if you haven’t started your preparations to be the best against the rest then it’s time to do so.

This program gives you an opportunity to challenge your innovative thinking and quick problem-solving instincts. It’s like being in a crowd with the best coders from all over the country and you get to compete against them to experience your passion for programming.

HackWithInfy 2021 Dates: Exam Schedule

HackWithInfy will be conducted in two rounds:

Round 1: May 5, 7, and 9

An online individual participation round on Infosys Assessment Platform.

Final round (virtual Grand Finale): July 2 – July 5, 2021

The competition is divided into three online rounds. It is open for select universities/colleges in India. There are no specific subjects for the Infosys Syllabus. However, round 1 and round 2 consist of 3 coding problems, and the questions are based on these key topics-

  • Dynamic Programming – An algorithm technique to solve an optimisation problem
  • Backtracking – Building a solution incrementally for computational problems
  • Mapping Concepts – The process of matching fields and a visual representation of the information gathered
  • String Manipulation – Changing, slicing, pasting, and even an analysis of strings
  • Tree – Used to store data with an inherent hierarchical structure
  • Graph – Non-linear data structure used to solve complex issues.
  • Greedy Algorithms – Simple and intuitive program for optimisation problems.

The difficulty level rises each round, meaning Round 1 is the easiest level and the Top 7000 students get to qualify for Round 2.

Out of these 7000 coders, only the best 100 who clear Round 2 get the chance to be a part of the Grand Finale Hackathon and an opportunity for placement at Infosys as a Power Programmer.

Cracking the rounds of HackWithInfy

Cracking-the-rounds

So, how does one qualify the rounds? How many answers do you need to get correct? Is there any fixed syllabus and will the challenge be connected to all that you’ve been studying over the years? Is there an interview round included?

To qualify for these rounds you need to understand the topics well and ignite your passion for coding to achieve magnitudes of success. However, there is no absolute syllabus guideline for HackWithInfy shared by Infosys. While the basic concepts remain the same, it’s always advised that you keep building and expanding your knowledge base.

Based on previous year’s #HackWithInfy competition analysis, the guide to Infosys Syllabus also includes the following subjects which help achieve success in round 2 –

  • Data Structures – Recognising types of data and analysing which operations can take place on them
  • Hashing Concepts  – The hash function converts one value into another
  • Game Theory – The process of modelling strategic interaction between two or more players
  • Mathematical coding problems – It helps to modify, innovate and gives form to abstract concepts.

Important Things to Remember

With a rough estimate, to be among the top 100, you need to solve at least 2.5 questions or more. The number might vary given the dynamic nature of the competition.

Here are some other important things to remember when preparing for #HackWithInfy:

  • Good command over various programming languages is necessary. A complete understanding helps you rephrase, experiment and take up all tricks or risks that you need to. It’s usually suggested to work with C, C++ or Python language.
  • Practising is the key and the best way to do that is to pick a platform where you can work regularly on improving your skills. CodeQuotient is the perfect coding platform which can help you overcome your shortcomings and provide you real-time practice and give you an opportunity to learn from mentors and fellow coders simultaneously.
  • Speed is an essential ingredient to win this battle. You need to think fast and type fast. If you can draft and run the codes fast, you will give yourself a better chance to fix any error or rewrite the code again if need be. The faster you are, the more confident you’ll feel about having time to check your work. However, don’t forget to prioritise accuracy over speed.
  • Make sure you solve previous years questions and get a better grip on the level of difficulty you can expect. It may also help you in understanding what kind of questions are asked throughout. If any question is troubling you, get in touch with the mentors at CodeQuotient and get your doubts cleared.

Before you begin practising, determine and accept the level you’re at. Being a beginner gives you opportunities and ideas to explore. It gives you an equal chance to be better with your expanse of ideas to solve any problems.

Competitive Programming

If you don’t have experience in competitive programming, it’s better to start with a lower difficulty level rather than going for advanced challenges straightaway. Start small and grow over time to solve hard ones.

For people who frequently solve such coding problems, all you need to develop a strategy, work on your speed and keep practising. Take part in the mock tests and challenge yourself to master the tasks before the final showdown.

HackWithInfy not only evokes the passion for programming but also gives the freshers out of a college the opportunity to explore their true potential. At CodeQuotient, we encourage you to dive deeper into the fundamentals of computer science and take on such challenges with ease. Our Full Stack Training module will let you work on developing projects and real-time problem-solving. On top of that, we conduct sessions and orientation programs from time to time and have a community of experienced and budding programmers who share their knowledge and motivate our students.

From pair programming to working in a group, we are looking for learners who like to grow together with their batch, take on challenges, and solve problems collectively. This is exactly what would help you win #HackWithInfy.
