Infosys is a gem of India. And it’s a matter of pride to be associated with this IT giant. With Infosys conducting its recruitment drive for graduates, it’s nothing short of a golden chance for job seekers to be a part of a global workforce. There are 3 levels of assessment – written exams, Technical interviews, and HR rounds that need to be cracked to secure a place in their office.

In the next sections, we will discuss the whole process in detail.

The ABC of Infosys Syllabus

The first step on the ladder to Infosys is the written exam. And as for any other exam, it is essential to know the exam pattern, syllabus, time structure, and everything one can know. So, here it is.

The Written Exam

The written exam is one of the toughest as per the industry standards. An applicant should analyse the syllabus for the exam, which could become the differentiating factor between a successful and unsuccessful candidate.

The written exam can be divided into the following sections-

  • Logical ability
  • Mathematical ability
  • Verbal ability
  • Pseudocode
  • Puzzle-solving

Each section comes with predefined time duration. Refer to the chart below:

Now that we know the syllabus of the written exam, the next step is the Technical round.

The Technical Round

Once you clear the written exams, you should get a call for the technical round, where the panel will screen you on your practical knowledge about the niche you’ve selected. There can be easy to moderate questions depending on how the panel approaches it. In-depth knowledge is a must for the applicants. If you clear this round, you proceed to the next round, i.e. HR interview.

HR interview

This is the last step in the process. An applicant has shown that they have the necessary aptitude and mental intellect to be a part of the workforce. But it is also necessary for the employer to know about their potential employee.

In this round, the panel looks for the cognitive approach of the applicants. Questions like, “tell us about yourself”, “why should we hire you”, “what are your strengths and weaknesses,” etc., will be asked. Such questions assess if the applicant has the required presence of mind and communication quality to impress the panel. Here you directly interact to highlight your personality and traits.

Things to remember

The entire selection process assesses a candidate on different levels. The written test assesses the ability to mentally crunch data. The technical round evaluates if the candidate has sufficient industry knowledge. The HR round is to check if the potential employee is fit for the company and matches the ethos that the company lives by.

So, here’s a gist of the points overall-

  • The written exam has specific cutoffs for each section, and passing sectional cutoffs together with the total cutoff is mandatory to qualify for the next round.
  • For the technical round, a candidate should have a good grasp of the projects they’ve worked on. One should expect questions regarding their role in these projects.
  • A candidate must have sound knowledge in at least one programming language, fundamentals like operating systems and peripherals, data structures, algorithms, etc. Knowledge about emerging technologies and aspects related to the job profile can score you additional brownie points.
  • Problem-solving abilities of a candidate may also be judged.
  • Try to be precise with the answers. Do not try to beat around the bush. This may leave a bad impression on the panel. Be humble and admit when you don’t know an answer.
  • For the HR round, one must be ready to face questions related to their background, their hobbies, their likes and dislikes, personal opinions, and even views about life. This round generally has a friendly vibe but never be over-friendly with the panel. Self-boasting and over-smartness are big turnoffs.
  • As the assessment process takes time, BE PATIENT. Rest assured if you are selected; the HR team will contact you.
