  • On the other hand, professors at IIT Kanpur do not find this skill gap surprising. They agree that most graduates cannot even write code on their own and attribute this to the outdated curriculum and emphasise the need to focus on a more practical approach to teaching and encouraging students toward research.

Though it sounds bitter, I also believe the talent crunch is real:

  • A sneak peek at ManGroup’s report of Talent Shortage 2020 reveals that 63% of companies in India deal with a lack of talent dominantly in IT, engineering services and Sales.
  • Horrifyingly, a McKinsey report identifies that a quarter of engineers in India are unemployable. In another report by Wheebox, only 48.7% of graduates are employable as of 2022.
